What does a new gutter system cost?
It is easiest to show with an example. We take a simple house with a gable roof and add up materials and labour from publicly available price lists. The result is indicative, but it shows which items make the difference.

The example
A gable roof with 2 × 10 m of eaves and a plan area of 10 × 6 m = 60 m² on each side. Each side has one downpipe, 5 m long.
According to KJG’s nomogram, an area of 37–83 m² per downpipe calls for a Ø 80 mm downpipe and a girth 250 or 280 gutter. In total, 20 m of gutter and 10 m of downpipe.
Materials – gutters and downpipes
KJG prices, price list from 11 August 2026, excl. VAT, gutter girth 250, downpipe Ø 80.
| Material | 20 m of gutter | 10 m of downpipe | Gutters + downpipes |
|---|---|---|---|
| galvanised steel | 20 × 3.43 = €68.60 | 10 × 4.05 = €40.50 | €109.10 |
| pre-painted galvanised steel | 20 × 6.74 = €134.80 | 10 × 7.80 = €78.00 | €212.80 |
| titanium-zinc | 20 × 10.68 = €213.60 | 10 × 11.23 = €112.30 | €325.90 |
In copper, the 20 m of girth-250 gutter alone would cost 20 × 36.52 = €730.40 excl. VAT.
Accessories
You also need brackets (with rafters at, say, about 0.9 m centres, that is 12–13 per 10 m), stop ends, hoppers, bends, pipe clips, unions and shoes. Their prices vary with the type of bracket and the material, so we leave them out of the example – look them up in the manufacturer’s price list. On a pre-painted system they are not negligible.
Labour
Numiq (updated 14 May 2026), excl. VAT, materials not included:
| Item | Calculation | Range |
|---|---|---|
| fitting gutters | 20 m × €8–20 | €160–400 |
| fitting downpipes | 10 m × €6–15 | €60–150 |
| total labour | €220–550 |
For comparison: flavio.sk (May 2025) gives €10–25 per m (average €15) for fitting a rainwater system, without stating VAT.
Total
For pre-painted galvanised steel the example comes to materials without accessories €212.80 and labour €220–550, all excl. VAT. On top of that come accessories, removal and disposal of the old gutters, and possibly scaffolding and travel. With VAT at 23%, the amounts go up by just under a quarter.
What changes the budget most
- material – copper vs galvanised steel is more than a tenfold difference for gutters,
- height – scaffolding or a platform on a two-storey house,
- number of corners and downpipes – every corner and hopper is extra work,
- condition of the fascia board – rot only shows once the old gutter is down,
- connection to the drains – if the gullies need redoing.
